Review and Reflection
After watching various music video's, that have been created by other A2 students. We then watched our own draft music video, we realised that we have many faults in our own, these are faults such as the camera shaking; as well as not completing enough establishing shots, furthermore we need to complete various shots such as extreme close ups. Me and Lauren have decided that we will be returning back to London to film different shots, and to make our video more consistent to match the theme and style of the song 'The City'.
Music Video Rough Version
This is our rough music video. We have called it 'our rough video' because there are some parts we don't like, for example the part were Andrew is lip-syncing and moving his head up and down a little bit, also we realised that he appeared happy, whereas we would like him to be content with a lost but sad character. Further,we will need to organise another day;were me, Lauren and our artist go back into London to film some other shoots, we would like to film this at night, we would like to show that the song starts from morning to night time, this is so that our music video is more narrative and does link to the lyrics. As well as filming some more various shoots, such as high angles, close up's and below angles. This will give us an opportunity to film any other shoots that we would like to on 'shooting day 2'. We aim to do this some time next month.
Lip-syncing task
The lip-syncing task was a practice, the artist was a little camera shy, therefore the lips don't show as much in the video.
Practising shooting different angles
I completed the video practice task, I found this very helpful. This taught me which angles I’m good at shooting, also which angles I’m not very good at shooting, for example I found the low angle difficult to control, as I couldn’t keep my arm steady enough to get a good shot of the singer . The establishing shot I enjoyed as this was easier to keep the camera still. Further I found the tracking shots were easier to do when I moved slower, as I had good control of the camera, it would have been better if the surface that I was walking on was flat, because it was went grass this made it hard to walk as still as possible. The other shots that I thought went well were the medium shot and the close up of the singer singing to the camera, in addition singing emotionally as I worked with the light I could capture the lip-syncing easily. These shots would have been even better with a nicer location/background. The long shot zoom to close up, close up zoom out to long shot , I seemed to capture this too fast, this taught me that I needed to go at a slower pace. Lastly the pan right across singer, pan left across singer would have been even better if I had walked on a pavement, as walking on grass made me at an awkward uneven angle. In conclusion to this practice task I learnt that doing shots at a steady pace would result to a better shot. I found that this task was helpful, as I now know what I should and shouldn’t do when I’m videoing the real music video.
