Evaluation on the music video 'Telephone

Lady Gaga – Telephone music video Who is it aimed at? What is its purpose? How successful do you think it is? The video is aimed at possibly teenager and the artist’s fans both female and male. The purpose of this video is to entertain and to advertise the video, the video captures the audience through the lighting which is bright, then when in the setting of the prison setting it is dark then there is light shining through the window at the end of the cell, the setting of the video is at a prison, the artist receives a telephone call whiles in there linking to the lyrics and the song name suggesting relevance. The artist wears dark clothes for example the leather jacket which has spike studs on the shoulders,coke cans as rollers, furthermore the make up is heavy and she wears dark lipstick, also in some parts of the video the clothing is revealing for example she wears bra and knickers whiles dancing and singing, the other characters in the video wear dark clothes throughout and this may be to match with the artist and the setting of the prison. In the video we can see that the way the artist is dressed is how she represents herself in other music videos, as she is known for her extreme outfits, clothing, and hair and make up. Furthermore this is supported through the props that are also used in the video, for example there are black sunglasses covered in lit up cigarettes, also we see the artist with knee high boots which have studs on them, representing her look, which makes her stand out and noticed by the audience. The camera angles show us the location the video takes place, there is a close up on the barb wire of the walls of the outside of the prison, to show it is a prison, also there are close ups on the prison bars to show settings. The style is concept as the video is very abstract throughout there video there is use of close ups and long shots at a fast pace. The pace is a fast pace this could represent the scene prison is somewhere you have to be careful and fast. Also the theme of the video, prison and a telephone has to be at a fast pace, the rule of not being able to be on the phone constantly. The genre of the video is pop rock, CGI is used in the video by the use of the black and white filming on the CCTV television shown in a scene in the music video shows these, also the effects to make it more realistic.
